UP Students Are Planning International House By DAVE LEW Times Correspondent GAINESVILLE - Could Inter national relations be solved by greater cooperation between foreign and American college students? Yes, say s'udents at the University of Florida. They, are moving ahead with plans for a long-awaited "Inter national House where students of all lands can congregate for a meal, a movie or just plain talk. Student Rene Monet of Belgium is in charge of the project. He says students have voiced the need for an international house on the campus for many years. "This should be a place where American and foreign students can gather on an Informal basis," says Monet. "Many things have been doni for international students but they all seemed to place the stu- ents under a strain. It is neces- sary for the foreign students at the university to have n ara which they know Is their own." The major problem In Diamine for the house is financing, says Aionei. One idea Is to have 20 students occupy portions of the house on a rental basis. Student government and the university administration are all backing plans for such a house, says Monet. 1 "The important thing ia a house not only as a meeting place," sayi Monet, "but also a place where all students can read, relax or study," "A true friendship cannot be forced," he says. "International House will be the beginning of a close and natural friendship between American and foreign students." L9)C2AIPL1QV ii - id, ST. PETERSBURG'S GREATEST rill AND YARD GOODS CENTER
