Polk Our valued contemporary, the Orlando Reporter-Star, seems to exult in its declaration that "'present indications are that the time will soon come when no ambitious politician will dare to take his booze in public." It might well be added that many more besides the "ambitious politician" will likewise when they wish to drinkbe driven to the privacy of their own chamber, with its cupboard of imported "wet goods" of high quality or to the secret Ir of the "blind tiger" where the delirium breeding "rot gut is wont to tell the truth, we can see no cause for exultation in a system that educates sneaks. There is already an ample supply of that class of gentry to disgrace our civilization, without manufacturing others.

In short, the "ambitious politician" and his terrorized brother of whatever persuasion will, according to the conclusions of the Reporter-Star, be tempted to commit a secret sin a sin which is a sin only because it is secret. If this is all the boasted prohibitory laws will effect, it is difficult to understand how Editor Holly or any other sane and enlightened individual can care to see them adopted.
