Mondays through Saturdays at the Hernando County Fairgrounds, 6436 Broad St. The program is for children ages 6 months through 11 years. Parents or legal guardians must register in person and must bring proof of residency birth certificate for each child and Social Security card for each child. Retired, Senior Volunteer Program has toy drive The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program has a toy drive for Daystar in Hernando County. All toys donated will go to needy children in Hernando County. Toys should be new, unwrapped and appropriate for newborns through teenagers. Drop-off locations include: Dollar General Stores (all Hernando County locations), Brooksville and Spring Hill Regional Hospitals (main lobbies), Oak Hill's Brooksville and Spring Hill Enrichment Centers, Brighthouse Cable, Brooksville Country Club, Harold's Auto Repair, Cloverleaf Retirement Community, Hernando Heritage Museum, Hernando Oaks Housing Development, Hernando County Humane Society Flea Market at Airport Flea Market (open on weekends only). Toys also can be dropped off at the RSVP office at 801 Broad St, Brooksville.

Toys will be accepted through Dec. 9. For information, call RSVP at 797-7017 or Daystar at 799-5930. Youth, Family Alternatives seeks donations, gifts Donations and Christmas gifts are needed for Youth and Family Alternatives, which provides Christmas presents for more than 800 children in Hernando, Citrus, Sumter and Pasco counties. Staff at Youth and Family Alternatives' New Beginnings Runaway and Youth Crisis Shelter help youth ages 10-17 living at the shelter with special meals and Christmas presents.

To donate gifts, cash donations or food (turkey, ham, canned goods or gift certificate) for youth at the shelter, call the shelter office toll-free at 1-800-5064302 by Dec. 12. Each year Christmas presents and holiday meals are provided to these families who may not otherwise celebrate the holidays. Hernando High student club collecting toys, gifts Hernando High School's Student Alliance Club is collecting new toys and stuffed animals for the Childhood Development Service of Hernando County through Dec. 13. The club also will provide a gift-wrapping fundraiser Dec. 6 to help provide toys to underprivileged children in Hernando County. The fundraiser will be at Office Depot on Cortez Boulevard in Spring Hill.

The club will gift-wrap presents for a monetary donation (checks are to be made payable to Childhood Development Services). New, unwrapped toys for newborns through 15 years also can be dropped off at the fundraiser. Hernando High School is at 700 Bell Brooksville. Help Daystar Life Center help the needy in county BROOKSVILLE The Daystar Life Center is in need of donations to help the needy of Hernando County.

The nonprofit center, which is at 7120 Hope Hill Road, needs food, clothing, furniture, household items and financial assistance. Donations of nonperishable food, paper products and diapers can be dropped off at the center, which is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and from 9 a.m. to noon Fridays; Pick-ups can be arranged for donations of clothing, furniture and household items.

Trucks are available for pick-ups from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays. Call Daystar 799-5930. Families in need may apply for Christmas baskets BROOKSVILLE Mid-Florida Community Services is now accepting applications for the annual Christmas baskets from 9 a.m.

to 3 p.m. weekdays through Dec. 10 at the office at 820 Kennedy Blvd. Hernando County low-income families or families with emergency crisis can apply. Required information includes proof of Hernando County residency, proof of all household income and monthly expenses, copies of birth certificates or Social Security cards for all household members, and a photo ID for the head of the household.

He retired after 16 years of service as pastor of Faith Baptist Church, Cortland, and 20 years with Cortland County School System and was an ArmyAir Force veteran of World War II. He was past president of Cortland's Teacher and Retired Teacher's Association and for Cortland-Madison Federal Credit Union, and was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Frances; two sons, James, Keller, Texas, and Philip, Carlsbad, a daughter, Barbara Harris, Indianapolis; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandson. LEVY, JOHN 79, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday (Nov. 26, 2003) at Oak Hill Hospital, Brooksville. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he came here 16 years ago from Trenton, J. He was a corrections officer with 25 years of service with the state prison in Trenton, an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean war, and Catholic. He was a member of American Legion Post 186 and Foreign Wars Post 10209.

WEST, PHILLIP EUGENE, 70, of Floral City, died Monday (Nov. 24, 2003) at home. Born in North Carolina, he came here in 1998 from Lakeland. He was a retired computer pro-gramer for Civil Service at Camp Lal-une for the United States Marine Corps and was a Navy veteran of the Korean war. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Odette; three sons, Steven Kelleher, and Eric West both of Davis, and Alen West three daughters, Linda Reed, Clearwater, Denise Taylor, Mukwonago, and Karen Marsh, Middleburg; three brothers, McKinley West Stephen and Marvin West both of Maryland; 16 grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren.
